PRE & POST NATAL PILATES

Pregnancy can be a very exciting and challenging time in a woman’s life. Your body will go through some significant changes and Pilates can help you to adapt and help you to prepare for the delivery of your baby.

At Elysium Studio Pilates we deliver Prenatal Pilates classes “Fit to Deliver”. The workouts are designed for low impact and intensity, reducing stress to the joints in the body, and adaptable to the changing needs of each and every body during pregnancy.

The prenatal classes will use a variety of Pilates equipment, props and light weights, as well as your body weight, to help keep you comfortable whilst challenging your body.

Prenatal exercises will strengthen and stretch weakened and tight muscle groups that occur as a result of postural changes and other stresses to the body that occur during pregnancy. As back and hip pain tends to increase during pregnancy, maintaining deep abdominal muscles, back muscles and pelvic floor muscles is key for pain management.

After the arrival of your precious baby, the pos-tnatal period is often full of sleepless nights, busy days, and the emotional roller coaster of getting to know your newest family member! Elysium Studio Pilates has developed a Postnatal circuit, which focuses on improving and maintaining a strong & flexible body. It will also assist in preparing you to return to any of your pre-pregnancy sports and activities.  When attending your postnatal class, Elysium Studio Pilates will address any abdominal muscle separation issues, educate and improve pelvic floor function and strengthen those important arm and trunk muscles to help assist with your new daily activities. Prior to attending your prenatal class, Elysium Studio Pilates requests you see your doctor or midwife for your 6 week check, prior to attendance.

You can start Post Natal Pilates following your 6 week check with your GP or Obstetrician.
